Quickler 5 Seconds Wave Trend Strategy
The Quickler mode on Olymp Trade lets you open a trade that expires in as little as five seconds, and that speed is the first thing to be honest about. A five-second expiry is the least forgiving timeframe in fixed-time trading: the outcome hangs on a handful of ticks, spread and delay eat into every entry, and the result sits closer to a coin flip than to anything an indicator can reliably predict. No tool — including the Heikin Ashi candles, SMA and Wave Trend combination here — can forecast a five-second move with a dependable edge. Read it as a way to structure your chart reading and manage risk, not a shortcut to certainty. For background on the mode, see our overview of the Quickler option.
What Heikin Ashi Candles Show
Heikin Ashi candles are a smoothed version of ordinary candlesticks. Each candle is built from an average of current and previous prices, filtering out noise and making a run of colour easier to see at a glance. It is also the catch: because the values are averaged, a Heikin Ashi candle hides the real open and close and lags behind live price. On a five-second expiry, where the true tick-by-tick price settles your trade, that lag is a real risk rather than a free lunch.
SMA for Trend Direction
The simple moving average (SMA) adds direction. It averages closing prices over a set number of candles, so when the shorter average sits above the longer one the bias is up, and below it, down. This method uses two SMAs — a fast and a slow one — so their relationship reads which way the recent drift is leaning. Like every moving average, an SMA lags: it describes where price has already been, not where the next tick will go.
The Wave Trend Oscillator
The Wave Trend oscillator is a momentum tool that plots how stretched price is from its recent average and flags overbought and oversold turns. When it reaches an extreme and curls back, it hints a move may be running out of steam. On Quickler it whipsaws — five-second bars throw off many false turns, so treat it as context, not a standalone signal.
Chart Setup and Settings
On Olymp Trade, switch the candle type to Heikin Ashi and add the indicators from the tools menu:
- SMA (period 12): the slower line for the underlying direction.
- SMA (period 3): the faster line that reacts to the immediate move.
- Wave Trend oscillator: left on its default settings as an overbought / oversold filter.
Keep the chart clean and pick a liquid asset with a tight spread. Treat these numbers as a starting point to test on demo, not fixed values — the right settings depend on the asset and volatility.
Entry Rules
Line up all three tools before committing, so you act on agreement rather than a single flicker:
- Up (buy): the fast SMA is above the slow SMA, Heikin Ashi candles turn up through the averages, and Wave Trend lifts out of oversold.
- Down (sell): the fast SMA is below the slow SMA, Heikin Ashi candles roll over below the averages, and Wave Trend falls from overbought.
- Stand aside: the SMAs are tangled and flat, or candles and oscillator disagree. A directionless chart is where fast-expiry trades bleed out, so no trade is often the best trade.
Why the Ultra-Short Expiry Is Dangerous
Where this fails is the same place every five-second method fails. The signals all lag — Heikin Ashi smooths, the SMA averages, the oscillator confirms after the fact — while the expiry gives price almost no room to follow through. In choppy or news-driven conditions the candles flip colour every bar and crossovers reverse before your trade settles. The bigger risk is behaviour: the speed of Quickler makes it easy to over-trade and chase losses. Never respond to a loss by doubling your stake to win it back — that martingale-style escalation can drain an account in minutes on a timeframe this fast. Stake a small, fixed amount per trade, cap your trades per session, set a daily loss limit, and practise on a demo account first.

FAQ
Is the Quickler 5-second Wave Trend method accurate?
No method is accurate on a five-second expiry. The Heikin Ashi, SMA and Wave Trend combination organises how you read trend and momentum, but any single five-second trade is close to random. Treat it as a framework for disciplined decisions, not a predictor.
What settings should I use?
Start with Heikin Ashi candles, an SMA of 12, an SMA of 3, and Wave Trend on its defaults, then adjust to the asset and volatility you trade. Every indicator used across our Quickler guides is included with the single $39 lifetime plan.
Which platform is this for?
It is written for Olymp Trade's Quickler mode, but these tools exist on most fixed-time platforms, so the same reading translates elsewhere with equivalent indicators.
