Trading Binomo with the Awesome Oscillator and Momentum

Pairing the Awesome Oscillator with a Momentum indicator is one of the most popular combinations for short binary options trades on Binomo. It looks powerful because two windows seem to agree before you enter. The honest catch, and the point of this guide, is that both tools measure the same thing — the speed of price. When two momentum readings line up, that is mostly correlation, not two independent votes.

What Each Indicator Actually Measures

The Awesome Oscillator (AO) is the difference between a fast and a slow simple moving average of the median price (the average of each bar's high and low). When the fast average pulls away from the slow one, the histogram grows; when they converge, it shrinks. In plain terms, AO measures how quickly the recent midpoint of price is moving relative to a longer baseline.

The Momentum indicator measures the rate of price change: it compares the current close to the close a set number of bars ago and plots the difference (or ratio) around a zero or 100 line. A rising Momentum line means price is advancing faster than it was; a falling line means it is decelerating.

Read those two definitions back to back and the overlap is obvious. Both are, at their core, a "how fast is price moving" gauge built from recent closes. That shared DNA is exactly why they tend to turn at almost the same time.

Why Two Momentum Tools Can Create False Confidence

When AO flips its histogram and Momentum crosses its center line together, it feels like independent confirmation. It usually is not. Because both are derived from the same recent price action, they are highly correlated by design — so they will often agree in calm trends and, more importantly, disagree or whipsaw at the same time when the market chops. Stacking two correlated indicators does not cut your false signals in half; it mostly makes a single momentum read look twice as convincing. On a 60-second Binomo expiry, that false confidence is expensive.

What an Independent Filter Adds

Real confirmation comes from a tool that measures something different. A trend filter (such as a longer moving average or the higher-timeframe direction) answers a question momentum cannot: are we trading with the dominant flow or fading it? A volatility filter (such as Bollinger Bands or Average True Range) answers another: is there enough range for the move to actually reach a payout before expiry, or is price dead flat? Adding one of these gives you a genuine second opinion. AO and Momentum can still trigger the entry — just treat them as one momentum voice, and let the trend or volatility filter decide whether that voice is worth acting on.

Setup and Settings on Binomo

Load both indicators in MetaTrader (or Binomo's own chart tools) and read them against the Binomo candle:

Keep the chart clean, trade a small number of liquid pairs you know, and let each candle close before you act.

Entry Logic and When It Fails

FAQ

Does the Awesome Oscillator plus Momentum double-confirm a signal?

Not really. Both indicators measure the speed of recent price, so they are correlated and tend to agree by design. Treat them as a single momentum read and add an independent trend or volatility filter if you want a true second opinion.

What are the recommended settings?

Set the Awesome Oscillator to a fast SMA of 3 and a slow SMA of 28, and the Momentum indicator to a period of 13. Keep them responsive but not so fast that they flip on every candle, and always let the bar close before reading the signal.

Where can I get the indicators?

The Awesome Oscillator and Momentum are standard indicators available on most platforms. The alert and arrow tools featured across this site are bundled in a single $39 lifetime plan, so you can test the same setup on Binomo and other platforms without piecing tools together.
